Terms & Conditions
Simple, clear terms for both of us.
These Terms & Conditions are intended to keep things simple and clear for both Happy to Help and our customers. Our aim is simple: if there is a genuine problem with our work, we want the opportunity to put it right.
1Payment
Payment is due upon completion of the agreed work unless otherwise arranged in advance. Where an invoice is issued, payment is due within the period stated on the invoice. Payment may be made by bank transfer, card or other agreed payment method.
2Quotes & Estimates
Quotes and estimates are based on the information available and the scope of work discussed with the customer.
If additional work, hidden damage or an unforeseen issue becomes apparent after work has commenced, Happy to Help will discuss this with the customer before undertaking work that would materially increase the agreed price.
3Cancellations & Rescheduling
We understand that plans change. Where possible, customers are asked to provide at least 24 hours' notice when cancelling or rescheduling a booking. A reasonable cancellation or call-out fee may apply where insufficient notice is provided or where Happy to Help has already incurred costs or committed significant time to the booking.
4Materials
Materials may be supplied by Happy to Help or by the customer, as agreed before the work commences.
Materials purchased by Happy to Help will be charged as agreed and included on the final invoice. Any significant material purchases will be discussed with the customer beforehand. Where materials or products are supplied by the customer, Happy to Help cannot accept responsibility for defects, suitability or failure of those products, except where damage or failure results from our workmanship.
5Workmanship & Rectification
Happy to Help provides general handyman services based on practical experience, knowledge and skill and does not represent that its services are performed by a qualified builder or licensed tradesperson unless specifically stated otherwise. All work will be undertaken with reasonable care and skill and to the best of our knowledge and ability.
If a problem arises that appears to result from work performed by Happy to Help, the customer should contact us as soon as reasonably possible and allow us the opportunity to inspect the work. Where reasonably possible, Happy to Help will attempt to rectify an issue attributable to our workmanship. If an issue cannot reasonably be rectified by Happy to Help, or rectification requires work outside our capability or work requiring a licensed or specialist trade, the customer will be advised accordingly.
This does not cover normal wear and tear, misuse, deterioration of existing materials, product failure, pre-existing defects, unsuitable or defective customer-supplied materials, hidden conditions or circumstances that could not reasonably have been identified before or during the work. Nothing in these Terms & Conditions is intended to exclude or limit any rights or guarantees that cannot lawfully be excluded under Australian Consumer Law.
6Access & Site Conditions
The customer is responsible for providing reasonable, safe and unobstructed access to the work area.
The customer should advise Happy to Help of any known hazards, concealed services, fragile items or other conditions that may affect the work. Where work is delayed or cannot reasonably proceed because access or site conditions differ materially from what was expected, any additional time or cost will be discussed with the customer before proceeding.
7Scope of Services
Happy to Help provides practical general handyman, assembly, installation, maintenance and property-preparation services. Happy to Help is not a licensed builder, electrician, plumber, gas fitter or other licensed trade contractor and does not represent itself as such. Work will only be accepted where Happy to Help reasonably believes the task is within its practical knowledge, experience and capability and can lawfully be undertaken without a specialist trade licence.
Happy to Help will not knowingly undertake electrical, plumbing, gas fitting, structural building work or other work requiring a licence or specialist qualification that Happy to Help does not hold. Happy to Help reserves the right to decline or stop work where, before or after commencing the job, it becomes apparent that the task is beyond our capability, presents an unacceptable safety or property risk, involves previously unidentified conditions, materially differs from the work originally requested, or should properly be undertaken by a licensed or specialist tradesperson.
Where this occurs, the customer will be advised and may be charged for work reasonably performed, materials supplied and any agreed call-out costs incurred up to that point.
8Existing Property & Customer-Supplied Information
Happy to Help will take reasonable care when working in or around the customer's property. The customer should identify any known defects, existing damage, concealed pipes, cables or other services, unusual construction, fragile surfaces or other relevant conditions before work begins.
Happy to Help is not responsible for loss or damage arising from a pre-existing defect, deterioration, inaccurate or incomplete information supplied by the customer, or a condition that could not reasonably have been identified before commencing the work, except to the extent that the loss or damage results from our failure to exercise reasonable care and skill.
9Liability & Consumer Rights
Happy to Help will perform services with reasonable care and skill and in accordance with applicable Australian Consumer Law. To the extent permitted by law, Happy to Help is not responsible for indirect or consequential loss arising from circumstances outside our reasonable control. Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded under Australian Consumer Law.
10Concerns & Rectification
If you are not satisfied with any aspect of the work, please contact Happy to Help as soon as reasonably possible.
We ask that you give us a reasonable opportunity to inspect the work and, where the issue is attributable to our workmanship, to rectify it before engaging another provider to undertake corrective work. If rectification requires work that Happy to Help is not licensed or qualified to undertake, we will advise the customer that an appropriately qualified tradesperson should be engaged.
Our approach is simple: we only take on work we reasonably believe we can safely and competently perform, we take reasonable care with your property, and if there is a genuine problem with our work, we want the opportunity to put it right.
